Stocks I Own
This is a live blog post, of my current portfolio. I update it, whenever I want. The last update was on July 24th.
WARNING: I READ TONS AND I DO MY OWN DISCOUNTED CASH FLOW CALCULATIONS & VALUATION TECHNIQUES. THE PITCHES BELOW SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, JUST BEHIND THE TRENDS.
I own V and MA, I don’t care who sells the world more credit cards these guys win. 5 years.
I own RIMM and AAPL, I don’t care who sells the world more smart phones these guys win. 3 years.
I’m long some 2010 CL LEAPS, and short some upper strikes…the growing middle class, likely likes toothpaste as much as we do! 20 months.
I own GOOG and Sandvine, the internet ain’t done growing. Both 10+ years.
I own RIG and CPA - long and short oil running out, CPA is the only airline i’d ever touch - I’ve been to Panama, seen the growth. Both 10+ years.
I own CCJ and like the uranium prospects for energy 50 years out. 50 years.
I got out of UNG at $62.30, twittered it, can’t believe my luck/timing/skill
I own JCI, because they are smart, and it’s a solid company, and I like the green building trend. 30 years
I own NTDOY, because the UI and product is great, Wii fit rocks out 2 years
I own MFC, for exposure to financial services which will undoubtebly uptick when boomers start passing on nest eggs to cottled kids. 25 years
I own ITU, for exposure to growth in Brazil, plus I think they might be printing money because profitability is great. 10 years
I got rid of GTI, for a tiny profit, I did a model, didn’t like it.
I own CVA because we keep making more and more garbage, and have less and less energy…no brainer. 20 years
I own Vestas - biggest pure-play wind company. No brainer, great north-by-northeast show. 10 years+
I own VRX - cheap stock, turn-around story, my only exposure to pharmaceuticals. Diversified + Good pipeline. CEO. Hat tip, Joe Dowling.
I own NVDA, on a bad tip from Jason Raznick…yes he is the blame for my stupidity. Selling Calls on it.
I got assigned CSIQ after writing puts for July, and the company announcing a dilution. I like this company for solar exposure going forward.
I own TEX - average price of $44.86, it’s a play on a developing world, urbanization, love the growing crane business.
Any given day I may or may not be short puts in
FSLR, RIO, PNR, FCX, ITRI, BMI, MIL, ENER, CPST…among other names.
My Water Basket:
I own TTEK wind & water! When our powers combine… 50 years
I own CCC, because UV & MercurY BABY! 50 years
I own CLC, because filters are needed to deal with our messed up planet. 50 years
I own HEK, great risk/reward, Richard Heckmann, the chinese have to boil water to survive, growing middle class, no brainer. 20 years.
I bought HyFlux, Singapore based Desal & Waste Water company growing all over Asia. Pure-play, great prospects. 10 years+
I own VE, since it seems to run a good north by north east show over the long haul, and they will grow while H20 demand climbs. 50 years.
It’s important to note, that I’m moving away from deal stocks. I own some of these names, because I LOoooove stealing time premium from option traders, and deal stocks generally work better. But, it’s getting old, and takes too much of my time. I’d rather - just pick good stocks with reasons for multiple expansion. I’m slowly moving towards this.
I’m looking for smart stocks to own in China & India, because the next 100 years truly do belong to them.
My Money Printers
I have enough money just in this basket below, right now, to retire in 35 years, if I get 15% out of it after taxes. You can laugh at me for it being dull if you want. I own SSO and HXU.TO just to keep me entertained, I sell the volatility to option traders sometimes.
I own HXU.TO, because despite my bias of country of origin, Canada is best poised in the global markets going forward.
I own SSO, so volatile, so great for sticking it to option traders. Based on efficient market theory and how buy-writes work - this should be great, but it’s kicking my ass recently.
I own FNI, because Chindia couldn’t be more of a cliche for the next 100 years.
I own VWO, because the rest of the world is kicking more ass than the USA.
I own FAN, lots of good stuff here.
I got into TAN, because valuations pulled back as earnings started trickling in. I wrote December $25 calls - that’s a 12.5% yield for me, if I just hold it.
I got assigned RSX…like I wanted.
I like the looks of FRN, PMNA, and AFK…going to flip a coin soon.
