I’m Going to Do Great Things

Inspiration is a funny thing. So is reflecting. I’ve been hospitalized the past 4 days, I’m recovering, but I had some time to think. There has been a revolution in my life in the last 8 or 9 months, it’s all because of BlueMoat, and the blog-o-sphere. I’ve met great people through the Internet; an entrepreneurial accountant, Jason and his brother Jerry – now fellow investors losing money together on Sandvine, a great real-estate agent TJ Lynch – we cut through jungle in Honduras together. Some people I’ve met face to face and others barely notice me, but that’s okay, I’m young. But the tip to “Network” I got from Larry Smith, an economist, has had such an enormous present value alteration in my life. I’ve read different books, I’ve learned new things, I’ve been more inspired, I look for more value in everything I spend my time on, etc, etc.

I’ve got approximately 95 days (found out yesterday, I have more than 2 months) off between the end of school and starting at Deloitte (start July 28th) I’m determined to do something fun, great, worthwhile, and interesting, during that time – then keep the ball rolling. A friend, Scott, wants to chat about Ashoka when he gets back from India – I’m intrigued. A fellow entrepreneur (more successful, and ahead of the curve than I) Andy over at MyTrade/ThinkOrSwim told me he is looking for talent (actually through a less than 140 character twitter message) again, very interesting, I’m sure I could do great things for them. I’m also wondering about pouring some money and time into further development of those 4 dot coms I am incubating – maybe I will! OR… OR… OR… I have until the end of April to nail something down…and I’d love to start leveraging the power of the blog-o-sphere, to find a cool project. Another idea I was thinking: I wonder If the guys over at CBS, specifically Wallstrip.com need any help, I really like that site, and I’ve got tons of ideas on how to improve it – and I’d be great at helping with content too!

Just yesterday, Howard wrote about starting something. Maybe something is in the air. Now HE could command an army of talent from the social network around him. Who knows maybe he’ll need a Mechatronic Engineer…I’ll “stay tuned”.

But the point is, I’ve been doing amazing things with the first 23 years of my life, and just because I’m getting a 9-5 (or probably 8 – 6) at Deloitte, doesn’t mean I have to quit. I won’t. Mark this post.

Wow, GREAT post. I’m glad I clicked on your name at Howard’s. What will you be doing at Deloitte? Unless it’s something out of the ordinary, you’re already way more entrepeneurial than they are used to dealing with. Fair warning, you will have to deal with enough boring paperwork per week to sink a boat (at least in my time there years ago it was like that).

Of all the things you mentioned above, the MyTrade thing could be very big … if people like Howard build a trading community within the site, they will have ignition.

I wish you the best… you deserve it.

  2. Business Technology Analyst. I hope the paperwork doesn’t sink MY boat. I’m glad you liked my post on this site and Howard’s. Thanks for the luck, all the best to you too, i’ll see you around the blog-o-spher Boca – nice to meet you!
